Automatic Frequency Controlled Slip Regulator provides variable resistance directly proportional to rotor voltage frequency. During constant load, variation in Rotor voltage frequency is minimum due to minimum slip. During sudden increase in load, slip increases thereby rotor frequency increases to increase ASR resistance. This increased resistance of ASR provides additional torque required to overcome additional load.
